"...the
grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to
all ..."
Titus 2:12 (NKJV.)
The Adult Bible Fellowship meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 11:10 am, allowing you to attend either the first or second service and still attend an ABF class. There is a variety of topics and teachers. Come, bring your Bibles, your questions, and your insights.
Here are the groups for the current session:
Nick Roussakis - Diocesan College, Convocation Hall
It is faith that has brought us to Christ, faith that sustains us and faith that will bring us to our heavenly home.
The Galatians had come to Christ by faith, powerless to win God's salvation apart from His mercy. But certain people were saying, "In order to keep God's favor, you have to maintain His standards by your own efforts." The apostle Paul contradicts that by declaring that to live according to God's will and maintain His high standards one has to live by faith and by His empowering presence in us.
Kristel Adib, Sabrina Adib and Cameron McLean
High School Sunday School - Diocesan College, Convocation Hall
We will study the books of 1, 2, 3 John, Jude and Revelation.
Diane Sollazzo - Peoples Church Library
What do Christians do when the going gets tough? What should they do? What did Peter do and what did he learn? We will study a little about Peter and learn from what he wrote in his first epistle and discuss how it relates to our own lives.
Camille Adib and Amar Muni - Pastor Bryan's Office
"How to Live the Full Adventure of Knowing and Doing the Will of God".
This study, written by H. T. Blackaby and C. V. King, will serve as a practical guide in our walk toward the Holy of Holies, the destination of a believer in Christ. For those who have not read the book, it will be a wealth of new and revealing knowledge, and for those who have, a chance to renew and expand on the blessings deriving from this spirit-guided exposition of applied godly knowledge. God desires an intimate relationship with each of us because He knows that it is essential for our livelihood. May we respond positively to His call.
Peter and Sue Cooney - Pastor Frank's Office
The purpose of this Bible study is to encourage our faith and growth of both Old and New Testaments of Scripture. Christ claimed to be the Key to the Scriptures, the Seed of the woman and the One of whom the entire Old Testament spoke (Luke 24:44-46). This Testament era anticipates the work of Messiah in many ways, and the New Testament points back to Jesus as the Author and Perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12: 2). How vital and inseparable is the history of the redemption of man.
Moreover, in this study we will grow to understand God's plan and purpose as the Word continues to meet man's deepest needs and to lead the human race to the Fountain of salvation and dynamic inspiration for right living. All are welcome to join with us in group discussion from Genesis through Revelation, a talk through the Bible interwoven into a composite and unified whole, as we walk by faith and not by sight.
George Ostojic - Diocesan College, Reading Room
Scripture very carefully characterizes Christ as a real historical figure. There is an abundance of internal biblical information to this effect as well as non-biblical information confirming who He was.
Many of us have encountered people who say that Christ never really existed and that He is simply a wishful creation of His followers after He was executed "a good teacher but that's all." Many are saying that Jesus' miracles, signs and wonders were fabrications, that Christian ideas can be found in other religions of antiquity, that we are created by aliens not God. You've heard it all. These are just some of the notions that uninformed people have bought into.
As a teacher for many years, I am meeting more and more young people who hold these ideas.
How do you deal with people with these views? In this ABF session we shall explore these issues with the view of clearly demonstrating that Christ is a real historical figure, and that the scriptural portrayal of Him is accurate and trustworthy. Come and join us for these interesting sessions.
