Union Cafe has been around for over 10 years. It started out as UYA-University and Young Adults
-looking to tend the spiritual growth of those in college and beyond.
Union Cafe has changed a bit over the years. For one thing we used to meet in the basement of Peoples Church, but now meet at the Diocesan College.
Another thing is the name changed to Union Cafe around 1999 since Peoples Church is on the corner of Union and Sherbrooke St.W.
Over 10 years we've had new faces but the core practices have remained the same.
At Union Cafe we practice the disciplines of worship, teaching, and prayer.
We believe that Biblical Christianity is not about a bunch of "do's and don'ts".
It's about being obedient to God.
"If you love Me, you will keep my commandments" --John 14:15 (NASB).
Obediance should lead to a joyous life.
"...I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly" --John 10:10 (NASB).
We seek God's truth through the Bible so that we will know how to apply His word in our lives,
no matter what our day is like: sunny or cloudy.
We want Christ's peace in us like a calm stream at all times.
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God,
which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."--Phil.4:6-7 (NASB)
We are open to fellow truth-seekers who ask serious questions such as the following:
Is the Bible true in all areas? and
What is God's will for me and how can I conform to it?
Okay, so the last question is two questions. I think you get the idea.
